Cable in the Classroom Congratulates C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb
On Receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award

Statement from Dr. Helen Soulé, executive director of Cable in the Classroom:

“Cable in the Classroom congratulates C-SPAN and Brian Lamb on the announcement
that he is to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Monday. In addition
to all that C-SPAN does to inform our democracy, the network’s commitment to
education and to providing students a front row seat to the way government
works is unparalleled. For years, C-SPAN and the resources it offers to
teachers and schools – from C-SPAN Classroom, to C-SPAN School Bus visits, to
student competitions that engage youth from around the country in the political
process – have made an enormous difference in classrooms and in furthering
civic education at large. Under Lamb’s guidance, C-SPAN has met with much
success in introducing young people to the political process with nonpartisan,
straightforward information that serves to educate and involve future
generations in the world around them.”
