  Business and International Education Program (Federal Register:

Purpose of Program: The Business and International Education
program provides grants to enhance international business education
programs and to expand the capacity of the business community to
engage in international economic activities.
    Applications Available: November 5, 2007.
    Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: December 12, 2007.
    Eligible Applicants: Institutions of higher education that have
entered into agreements with business enterprises, trade
organizations, or associations that are engaged in international
economic activity -- or a combination or consortium of these
enterprises, organizations, or associations -- for the purposes of
pursuing the activities authorized under this program.
    Estimated Range of Awards: $50,000-$90,000.
    Estimated Average Size of Awards: $84,000.
    Estimated Number of Awards: 20.

  Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs
  (Federal Register: November 5, 2007 [CFDA#s 84.334S and 84.334A])

Purpose of Program: The purpose of the Gaining Early Awareness and
Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is to support early
college preparation and awareness activities for low-income
students.
    Applications Available: November 5, 2007.
    Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: December 20, 2007.
    Eligible Applicants: (1) A State; or (2) a partnership
consisting of (A) one or more local educational agencies acting on
behalf of (i) one or more elementary schools or secondary schools,
and (ii) the secondary schools that students from the schools
described in (i) would normally attend; (B) one or more degree
granting IHE; and (C) at least two community organizations or
entities, such as businesses, professional associations, community-
based organizations, philanthropic organizations, State agencies,
institutions or agencies sponsoring programs authorized under
subpart 4 of Part A of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of
1965, as amended (HEA), or other public or private agencies or
organizations.
    Estimated Range of Awards: State grants: $2,800,000-$3,000,000.
Partnership grants: $100,000-$7,000,000.

    Estimated Average Size of Awards: State grants: $2,900,000.
Partnership grants: $800,000.

    Estimated Number of Awards: State grants: 7.  Partnership
grants: 30.

  Advanced Placement (AP) Test Fee Program (Federal Register:
  November 9, 2007 [CFDA# 84.330B])

Purpose of Program: The AP Test Fee Program awards grants to
eligible State educational agencies (SEAs) to enable them to pay
all or a portion of advanced placement test fees on behalf of
eligible low-income students who (1) are enrolled in an advanced
placement course and (2) plan to take an advanced placement exam.
The program is designed to increase the number of low-income

students who take advanced placement tests and receive scores for
which college academic credit is awarded.
    Applications Available: November 9, 2007.
    Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: December 28, 2007.
    Eligible Applicants: SEAs in any State, including the District
of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States
Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the
Northern Mariana Islands, and the freely associated states of the
Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of
Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau (subject to continued
eligibility).  Note: For purposes of this program, the Bureau of
Indian Education is treated as an SEA.
    Estimated Range of Awards: $15,000--$500,000.
    Estimated Average Size of Awards: $315,789.
    Estimated Number of Awards: 38.
