Greetings;

   The In the Spirit Native Art Market and Show will have an earlier deadline this year of March 21, 2008. Applications will be available to download from the longhouse website in January. We’ll also send it out via this e-mail list. The show will be held at the  Washington State   History Museum  in downtown Tacoma ,  Washington . The show will run from June 19th to July 20th. Work in any visual media will be considered, but please keep in mind that there are weight limits for wall mounted pieces, and height and length restrictions. The museum cannot install, for example, 24 foot long cedar canoes or 18 foot tall poles. If your plans call for large pieces, please let Tina or Laura know so we can run it by the curators at the museum before you get too far in the project.

   Because of past difficulty with the web application forms, this year’s application for the ART SHOW will have to be downloaded and completed by each artist and then e-mailed, faxed or snail mailed to the Longhouse. Applications will have to be accompanied by JPEG images of the work you intend on showing. Since the deadline is only 3 months away, we wanted you to have as much time as possible to consider the works that you might want to include. The applications will be available in January. Again, we wanted to give artists as much lead time as possible for selecting work they want to exhibit. Please keep in mind that the March 21 deadline is firm and even though we love and admire you, we are going to stick to it for each and every artist.

   The In the Spirit Art show is open to all members of North American Indian tribes in the U.S.  and Canada  and to Native Hawaiian artists. Final works will be juried in for exhibition and then for awards.

   The market will be held on June 28 and June 29. Vendor applications will be available to download as well in January and those will be sent to the Washington  State History Museum.
