Irvine, Calif. – Students, teachers and parents have the chance to have their
voices heard in Washington D.C. and in state capitals on creating the ultimate
school, technology use in learning and 21st century skills by taking part in
the national Speak Up survey. In recognition of the importance of yesterday’s
election, K-12 students are being specifically asked on this year’s survey how
they would improve schools if they were the President.
The findings will be shared with Congress and the Obama Administration in March
2009.
“As we prepare for the new President, a new Congress and many new Governors
around the country, it is more important than ever for teachers, students and
parents to have a voice in the new national discussions about 21st century
education,” said Julie Evans, Julie Evans, CEO of Project Tomorrow. “Don’t let
the ideas of your students, teachers, parents and administrators be left out of
this landmark national project. Voting on election day is just step one – now
is the time to join more than 15,000 students, parents and educators who have
already completed their Speak Up surveys.”
The 2008 online survey – open now through December 19th for all K-12 students,
parents, teachers and administrators at http://www.tomorrow.org/speakup/ –
offers the largest collection of authentic, unfiltered input on education and
technology from those ‘on the ground’ in the schools.
Individual participation and responses provided in the Speak Up survey are
completely confidential and completing the online survey takes only 15 minutes.
The Speak Up surveys are open to every public and private school and district
in the United States, American schools on military bases and other interested
schools worldwide.
