Subject: [DUC] INTERNET SEARCH RESORUCES: Keys to the Best Search Tools
for Unlocking the Internet for the Needs of Educators and Students

Finding search tools that are focused in a subject discipline as
well as the general ones is a major need of researchers in every major
subject discipline. Lawyers, for example, are more likely to focus their
search for websites that help them with a question or a topic by searching
in a legal search engine rather than going to the general ones. They will
use the general search engines for searches of topics outside their field
or to check and supplement their searching of the legal search engines.

In addition to listing the best general internet search tools, the
Educational Cyberplayground has listings included in its pages of search
tools that denote search tools and guides that are specific to education
and its related fields. The Educational Cyberplayground is therefore a
good place to start research that seeks to determine what information
there is on the web regarding an education related topic. Since the
Cyberplayground also links to the ERIC database, one can also use the
Cyberplayground as a starting point for finding periodical article
citations and education report literature on their topic from the ERIC
database.

Here are some URLs at the Educational Cyberplayground that will
help get an educators topical research on the internet off to a good start:
