Flu Lore Stories by Annonymous:

1) A gent we interviewed in West Virginia said his family kept a bit of sulfur burning on the woodstove during the flu of 1918. It was said to prevent the spread of infection. We recorded him telling of a visitor who turned out to be coming down with the flu. The family never got sick, and the sulfur burned on. He also spoke of people handing grocery lists through a window to store proprietors to prevent the spread of the flu.

2) My great aunt claims that during the flu epidemic of 1918, folks who ate lots of sauerkraut fared far better than those who did not.
