Rosh Hashanah is not just the Jewish new year, it's also the world's birthday. We believe that come this Rosh Hashahah, the world will be 5770 years old.

In order to make sure that we have a sweet year to come, we eat sweet things. Not just sweet desserts, our meat dishes are also sweet, and so are the sides. Honey is a prominent part of the menu. So are pomegranates, because they are supposed to have 613 seeds which is the number of commandments the Jews have to follow.
