Colbert Report hopes week in Philly brings Independence "Haul" of laughs

Stephen Colbert will be taping his half-hour shows at the 900-seat Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts Zellerbach Theatre on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The programs will air nightly at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT from Monday, April 14 through Thursday, April 17.


3 p.m. Update - The first name in “truthiness” is making his way to Philadelphia.

Stephen Colbert, host of the Comedy Central show “The Colbert Report” is in Philadelphia all week, beginning tonight, to cover the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary. This marks the first time the show will broadcast from a remote location.

Colbert will be taping his half-hour shows at the 900-seat Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts Zellerbach Theatre on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The programs will air nightly at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT from Monday, April 14 through Thursday, April 17.

The week will include filmed pieces such as a tour of Philadelphia and an installment of the 434-part series “Better Know A District” with Congressman Joe Sestak, representing 7th" district of Pennsylvania. Tonight’s taping will include Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter, “Hardball” host Chris Matthews and John Legend singing the “Star Spangled Banner”. Tuesday’s show will feature The Roots, Wednesday will feature the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA), the only sitting Congressman to have served in Iraq.
